The Spiritual Soldier

"Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple."
Luke 14:33

The people were following Jesus in great numbers, but for the wrong reasons. So He made a series of statements intentionally designed to thin out the ranks. He wanted to be left with those who really wanted to follow Him, truly committed disciples and soldiers.

Let's look at the qualities Jesus wants in the soldiers He is enlisting in His service. We can see just what He expects in the Gospel of Luke:


Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. . . . So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. (Luke 14:25–26, 33)

Here Jesus laid out plainly what is necessary to be His disciple, to be a soldier in His service. In essence, Jesus said, "If you want to follow Me, you must love Me more than anybody else." If someone is trying to hold you back, say to that person, "I'm sorry, but I am following Christ. If you want to walk with me, come on. You can be a spiritual soldier with me."

A spiritual soldier must also forsake all he or she has for Jesus. That means you take everything in your life and say, "This belongs to you, Lord."

That is what it means to be Jesus' disciple. That is what it means to be His soldier: you love Him more than anyone, more than anything—just as He loves you!

Who is Ready to Fight?

Warriors in the Battle

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood . . .
Ephesians 6:12

A spiritual battle wages in our world today; and God is looking for men and women who are ready to go into that spiritual battlefield and make a difference.

The battle has been raging since the very beginning, as Satan has tried to keep us apart from God. The Apostle Paul described this spiritual struggle when he wrote, "We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12). The devil has always opposed Christ, and he will oppose those who follow Jesus Christ.

One of Satan's strategies was to try to stop the Messiah from arriving in the first place. Remember how we read in the book of Exodus that Pharaoh commanded all of the Hebrew baby boys to be killed? That was Satan's plan to wipe out the tribe the Messiah would come from. Satan tried again with Haman in the book of Esther and with King Herod who killed all those babies in Bethlehem, intending to stop the arrival of the Messiah. Well, those plans didn't work, but the battle continued.

Certainly the devil was at work when Judas Iscariot betrayed the Lord for thirty pieces of silver. You might have thought that Satan was basically successful when nails went through the hands and feet of Jesus on the cross. But as the devil hammered home those nails he was hammering home his own defeat, because it was the blood of Christ that redeemed us.

Thank God today for that redemption! Let's be warriors in the battle.

Jesus Christ is a live.... Not dead on the cross

I just want to give God all the glory. We had an awesome time last night for our Easter program at The Potter's House in Mesa, AZ. We had several live dramas which included our Children’s Church Puppet Show, Children’s Sunday School Choir, Children’s Sunday School Play, Drama Team Skit(Homie the Bunny), N. Mesa Drama Team Skit, Drama Team Skit(Everyone Loves the Baby), and Adult Choir. This was all done for the glory of God. People’s lives were touched and changed. It is sad that there are a lot of people out there that do not know what the true meaning of Easter is. For those that don’t know, it is a celebration of Jesus Christ rising from the dead. For every true Christian, yes I said true Christian, not a compromising Christian, we have accepted Jesus Christ to live in our heart and help us clean the wicked things in our life that will defile the temple of God(our bodies). Don’t get me wrong God is a God of LOVE, but He also is a God of JUDGMENT. He LOVES everyone, but He HATES our sins. Please don’t be a compromising Christian.

Do You Love Me?

And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You."
John 21:17

Simon Peter did love the Lord, even though he had denied Him. But no longer would he boast of his love for Jesus. That is always a wise thing to do. Never boast of your love for God. Instead boast of His love for you. Don't tell me how much you love Him, how much you have done for Him, how wonderful of a servant you are. No—tell me how much He has done for you, how much He loves you, all that He has worked out in your life.

How can we tell if a person loves the Lord?

A person who loves the Lord will long for personal communion with God. The psalmist said, "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God" (Psalm 42:1).

A person who loves the Lord will love the things He loves and hate the things He hates. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good" (Romans 12:9).

A person who loves the Lord will long for the return of Jesus. The Apostle John prayed, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus!" (Revelation 22:20).

A person who loves the Lord will keep His commandments. Jesus Himself said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15).

If you really love God, it will be shown in your life. "Do you love me?" Jesus said to Peter. "And he said to Him, 'Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You' "
(John 21:17).

And Jesus is still asking that question of all of us. "Do you love me?" I wonder what our answer would be.

The other side of the boat

He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some."
John 21:6

The disciples were disappointed and discouraged after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. They were in Galilee, and they had gone out for a night's fishing. They had not caught any fish all night, another disappointment for them. But then, as John describes, Jesus turned everything around for them:

But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No." And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. (John 21:4–6)

Already frustrated by their inability to catch anything, some of the disciples were undoubtedly upset when they first heard someone say, " 'Cast the net on the right side of the boat.' " They were seasoned fishermen after all. They did this for a living. But when they pulled up the nets from the other side of the boat, they had so many fish they couldn't even bring them all in.

Now why did Jesus ask them if they had any food? He wanted them to admit their failure, to acknowledge that they needed His help. We live in a time when nobody wants to admit wrongdoing. We want to blame it on something or someone else, on our circumstances, on a condition or syndrome. Nobody wants to say, "Yes, I am responsible."

But Jesus wanted His disciples to confess their failure, and then He wanted them to obey Him. Well, of course then they pulled up full nets.

And we should obey Him, too, even if it seems like the wrong side of the boat.

Who is guiding and directing your Life?

Gone Fishing

Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also."
John 21:3

How many times have you wanted to leave your problems behind, get away from it all, and hang the sign on your office door: "Gone fishing"?

After the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, the disciples were waiting in Galilee for Jesus as He had instructed them. Not knowing what else to do, they decided, under the leadership of Peter, to go out and fish. The Apostle John tells the story like this:

Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. (John 21:3–4)

Well, these disciples went out fishing and they caught nothing. That was not a bad thing. But Jesus had them catch nothing to prove a point, which was the futility and uselessness of living our lives without the direction and blessing of Jesus.

You can aim at your goals. You can work hard in business, work hard at everything you hold dear, and still your dreams may not be fulfilled because you did not have the Lord direct your life. You did not invite Him to bless your plan, or more importantly, direct you in your plans. So often we will think, It's my life and my future and my career and my family and my money. We forget we belong to God.

We need to remember—it's God's life. It's His future. He is so gracious and loving. He wants to guide and direct your steps. Did you know that? God has a custom-designed plan just for your life.

Keep that in mind as you think about your future. Say, "Lord, what do You want me to do? I don't want to go fishing and pull up empty nets. I want You to direct me. I want You to guide me."

Protect America's Kids from Big Tobacco

Kauai Kolada, Midnight Berry, Twista Lime. When you read those names do you think of candy or cigarettes? While it is hard to believe, those are the names of real cigarettes to which candy flavors have been added. Big Tobacco says that these products are exclusively for adults. Do you believe them? Do you believe Big Tobacco should be able to make such a blatant attempt to addict our kids? Do you know that the Federal Government is powerless to stop this marketing?

The Federal Government does not have any authority over the manufacturing, sale and marketing of tobacco. To change that Congress must pass a law specifically giving that authority to a federal agency.

The Government's lack of authority means that Big Tobacco can continue to make and market so-called "safer" cigarettes without any oversight. Who determines if a cigarette is "safer"? Currently, Big Tobacco's marketing and advertising departments decide. We shouldn't have to depend on the tobacco companies for information about their products. Without an act of Congress, Big Tobacco can say what ever it wants to say.

Last year, we waged a battle to protect America's kids from Big Tobacco. Unfortunately, after winning huge victories in the United States Senate, we were unable to get the bill approved by a conference committee.

The good news is we aren't giving up. And neither are Senators Kennedy and DeWine and Representatives Davis and Waxman. Last Thursday, Senators DeWine and Kennedy and Representatives Davis and Waxman announced they are re-introducing their legislation to allow FDA the authority to regulate tobacco. This is great news! It is time for Congress to act to hold Big Tobacco Accountable.

The first step in our campaign to pass this legislation will be to get influential members of Congress to co-sponsor the bill. Your Member of Congress is one of our key targets. There once was a man named George Thomas, pastor in a small New England town.
One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit. Eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began to speak..."I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming toward me swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little wild birds, shivering with cold and fright. I stopped the lad and asked, "What you got there, son?" "Just some old birds," came the reply.

"What are you gonna do with them?" I asked.

"Take 'em home and have fun with 'em," he answered. "I'm gonna tease 'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. I'm gonna have a real good time."
"But you'll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you do?"

"Oh, I got some cats," said the little boy. "They like birds. I'll take 'em to them."

The pastor was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds, son?"

Huh?? !!! Why, you don't want them birds, mister. They're just plain old field b irds. They don't sing. They ain't even pretty!"

"How much?" the pastor asked again.

The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, "$10?"

The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed it in the boy's hand. In a flash, the boy was gone.

The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a grassy spot Setting the cage down, he opened the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them free.

Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor began to tell this story.

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other.
I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you get done with them?" Jesus asked. "Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly. "How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you. You don't want those people!!"

"How much?" He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your blood, tears and your life."

Jesus said, "DONE!"

Then He paid the price.

The pastor picked up the cage he opened the door and he walked from the pulpit.


Notes: Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.

Isn't it funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in God).

Isn't it funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing?

Isn't it funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Isn't it funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me.

I pray, for everyone who sends this to their entire address book, they will be blessed by God in a way special for them.

And send it back to the person who sent it, to let them know that indeed it was sent out to many more.

Okay now they are going too far. It is obvious that they do not have the best interest of our children in mind. No one would need condoms if the morals of this country were not taken away in 1963. People should not even be thinking of sex unless they are married.

What does Easter mean to you?

Before I was saved Easter to me was a day to look for Easter eggs, take pictures with the Easter bunny & going to Sunday mass to see, at the time I thought was Jesus dead on the cross. I know now that is a lie from hell, because Jesus is alive in every one of our hearts, we just need to allow Him to come in and get to know us. I could never understand how the bunny would lay the eggs that we would look for and why we would believe that. I think I heard one time that they used a bunny for the pagan god of fertility. Read for yourself about the Easter bunny. Anyway now that I am saved I understand that Jesus died on Good Friday and arose on the 3rd day. That is why we have the hope of eternal life; the death on the cross when the devil thought he had Jesus defeated, and found out shortly that he was the one that was defeated. Jesus went to hell, death and the grave and snatched the keys of death out of the hands of satan. Thank You Jesus. If you still believe in the Easter bunny, you need to get saved. That’s just my opinion; the searching for colored eggs in its self not bad. ***KNOW THE REASON FOR THE SEASON ***

The greatest moment in my life clearly was the day that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It's a day I just won't forget--it changed the course of my life.

I wanted to try to make up for the years I had wasted up to that point. I wanted to learn more about God; I wanted to have a relationship with Him. I couldn't get enough. What was happening in my life was God was changing me. I wanted to reach out to other people with the message of the gospel. I wanted God to use me.

When the Israelites had entered the Promised Land, Joshua exhorted them "to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul" (Joshua 22:5). That was what I have wanted to do.

As I have often said, next to being a Christian, the greatest joy I know of in this life is serving the Lord, and having God direct your steps. It amazes me that the Creator of the universe, the Almighty God would condescend to work in my life. It is totally amazing. It is the highest privilege conceivable that God wants to use us.

Wow, to think that it is being allowed. Well I guess if you look at it from the cities point of view, there is no tax payers money being used for this to clean up that area. Just think, if the Mormons would get saved and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, how much impact they can do to the world. It is sad to see all the people that follow Joseph Smith, and are being lead to a real hell. I still believe that there is hope for them. I am in no way saying that I am judging them as people, but I am speaking against the false doctrine that they speak of. Please get saved. The only way to heaven is through the Blood of Jesus. This means we as Christians need to step it up and have a heart for souls.

All I can ask is WHY? This is not right. I've heard of getting upset, but to stab another kid in the eye for a baseball. I would like to know what is being taught to this child at home.

Are your sins forgiven? They can be....

Well if you do not have Jesus in your life as your Lord and Savior, I can tell you that your sins have not been forgiven. Please accept Him into your life. The bible says that you just have admit that you are a sinner, repent of your ways, ask Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior, know that He died on the cross for your sins, was buried and arose in three days. If you pray that and mean it with all your heart, Jesus said that your name will be added in the Lamb’s Book of Life and your sins will be forgiven and cast away into the sea of forgetfulness as far as the east is from the west and never to be remembered again. Psalms 103:12

What sermon are you preaching?

What I believe is that we all need to practice what we preach. If we want to see others saved and live for God, we need to start by having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Others will see Him living in us and will follow. Salvation is the sermon we need to be preaching. What type of an example are you at work? Do you laugh at worldly jokes? Do unsaved people feel comfortable around you to speak any which way? If people feel uncomfortable speaking about the wild weekends they had or just the drinking and partying they did, then that's good. This would mean that they understand where you stand. I believe we are living in the last days and we need to witness and bring more people to Jesus Christ. He is their hope.

What a father tossed his daughter over a bridge? He needs Jesus...

When I read stories like this it makes me very sick. To know that a father would do something so heartless to a child that is his own. This is why it is so important that we fight to bring Jesus Christ into this world. We need to witness to all and make stands.

We as Christians need to make a stand against the homosexual spirit.

I believe that this is being allowed to happen due to the way USA is starting to pull away from GOD. Please make sure this video is not going to be allowed in your child's school. Please forward this info to any other parent that might not receive this blog. I am in no way promoting anything against homosexuals, but we do need to make sure the sin that has them in bondage is judged. Remember if we call ourselves Christians, we need to be like Christ. Do you Gossip or do you listen to it? T.H.I.N.K.

I can say that in the past I would have fallen in the category of listening to gossip for the simple fact that I did not want to be the bad person by saying that it was wrong. I can say that now I do not care to listen to gossip and I will judge it. We have to remember that words are spirit and they do affect those that you speak it to. It might not be something that will happen right away in most cases, but over time the person that you spoke about will be looked at differently by the person you spoke to about that person. This will cause division in any church and will not allow the church to grow. We need to lift each other up, not tear one another down. Remember T.H.I.N.K. this stands for:

T – is it TRUE?
H – is it HELPFUL?
I – is it INSPIRING?
N – is it NECESSARY?
K – is it KIND?

***If your answer is “NO” to any of these questions when you T.H.I.N.K., then don’t say it at all.

This is one of the keys to stopping the Gossiping spirit or Back Bighting for that matter. The other is to Judge it when you hear it.

What do you think the Supreme Court should do with the Ten Commandments in the court system?

I believe that we need to keep them and all of what this country has been founded on (THE HOLY BIBLE), in the court system. Without them we could not prosecute anyone for wrong doing. Example: A person that has been accused of murdering someone can argue that they are not guilty and who is to say that he or she should be punished for that murder? A Judge (man)? This is why GOD created the Ten Commandments, so that no man can find a loop hole out of the crime they committed. We need to fight to keep the TRUE LAW in the courts, without that we as a country will crumble. Click on link below to see how to fight back:
