Protect America's Kids from Big Tobacco

Dear Friend,

Kauai Kolada, Midnight Berry, Twista Lime. When you read those names do you think of candy or cigarettes? While it is hard to believe, those are the names of real cigarettes to which candy flavors have been added. Big Tobacco says that these products are exclusively for adults. Do you believe them? Do you believe Big Tobacco should be able to make such a blatant attempt to addict our kids? Do you know that the Federal Government is powerless to stop this marketing?

The Federal Government does not have any authority over the manufacturing, sale and marketing of tobacco. To change that Congress must pass a law specifically giving that authority to a federal agency.

The Government's lack of authority means that Big Tobacco can continue to make and market so-called "safer" cigarettes without any oversight. Who determines if a cigarette is "safer"? Currently, Big Tobacco's marketing and advertising departments decide. We shouldn't have to depend on the tobacco companies for information about their products. Without an act of Congress, Big Tobacco can say what ever it wants to say.

Click here to urge your member of Congress to give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to regulate tobacco.

Last year, we waged a battle to protect America's kids from Big Tobacco. Working with Senators Mike DeWine, (R - Ohio) and Ted Kennedy (D - Massachusetts) and Representatives Tom Davis (R-Virginia) and Henry Waxman (D-California) we fought to pass legislation that would give the FDA the authority to regulate tobacco. Unfortunately, after winning huge victories in the United States Senate, we were unable to get the bill approved by a conference committee.

The good news is we aren't giving up. And neither are Senators Kennedy and DeWine and Representatives Davis and Waxman. Last Thursday, Senators DeWine and Kennedy and Representatives Davis and Waxman announced they are re-introducing their legislation to allow FDA the authority to regulate tobacco. This is great news! It is time for Congress to act to hold Big Tobacco Accountable.

The first step in our campaign to pass this legislation will be to get influential members of Congress to co-sponsor the bill. Your Member of Congress is one of our key targets. Will you please take just a minute to send your Member of Congress an e-mail asking them to co-sponsor the DeWine/Kennedy/Davis/Waxman legislation to regulate tobacco?

Click here to send your email.

Thank you so much for your help. We will win this fight.

Sincerely,
Carter Headrick

To a lot of people this can be a problem but what everyone seems to forget, is that tobacco has been around for a mighty long time even before Christ him self. Its not the tobacco companies fault, they are a business and like every business they are out to make money. Like some churches that are out there. God gave us free will and a mind to think for our self's, so everyone needs to stop and think what do I have to do to keep my child safe from all this. you cant stop it or even save the world from it.
What are people trying to accomplish by taking this to congress. It may look good but what happens afterwords. ("SMOKE BREAK") hello do you really think Congress really wants to regulate. Of course not. Tobacco Companies have them in there back pocket. They have big money invested in tobacco. Tobacco is Money, used all over the world ... so can we stop it? of course not! can we educate our children ? Sure thang. remember there are more people who smoke than who don't. so all we can do is to put the pressure on those who do smoke to keep it at home ... thats all I have to say bout that

I think we need to preach the Gospel so that people cant get saved (really saved) not just say that they are christians and live like devils lusting after this world and its material things, and we can stop these companies with prayer and with our right to vote and send letters to congress if the fagots have power in congress with their laws WHY NOT Christians
I dont think we should compromise not even a bit we should trust GOD
and believe for miracles and revival in these LAST DAYS.......

I would like to add to what Eddie said. We do need to take a stand against this, not only through sending e-mails or letters to congress, but through prayer on our knees believing in God to touch these people. These people need to stop looking at their big bank accounts, but their kids and their future. Unless they are raising their kids to do the same. We need to not compromise, but judge it. Smoking is bad and if you call yourself a Christian you would not smoke, your body is the temple of God (1 Corinthians 6:19)
REMEMBER THAT

God Bless
